It's Australia Day today and time for the annual tradition of spending the day glued to the radio, listening to the top 100 songs voted by Triple J listeners last year. Six of the songs on my list made it into the countdown. The results...
38. Josh Pyke, Memories and Dust
17. The Grates, Science is Golden
14. OK Go, Here It Goes Again
5. Scissor Sisters, I Don't Feel Like Dancing
4. The Killers, When You Were Young
2. Eskimo Joe, Black Fingernails Red Wine
I was surprised that Eskimo Joe didn't win. I quite like the Augie March song but not enough to vote for it, or even put it on my short list of 25 odd songs. I was pleased that three Australian acts took out the first three places though. I was hoping that the Shins might have managed to sneak in at number 90 or so, but they didn't. Surprised the Mountain Goats didn't get a look in too.
You can look up the entire list here and also listen to the whole thing in RealAudio if you fancy doing so.

That's pretty good. I think I got eight out of my ten songs - I missed out on a Ben Harper song, although he got one song in. I also missed out on a Dresden Dolls' song, and they didn't make an appearance. Very disappointing. Bec
