Happiness is A...

...warm gun (bang bang, shoot shoot). No, not really. Nor is it a puppy or any other Peanutsified take on life. Happiness this week is an unspent JB Hi Fi voucher. The dilemma is what to spend this voucher on. I could buy series 2 of The West Wing and at the rate I'm progressing through series 1 this could be a logical option on the weekend. However, I can buy a whole CD and a half for $30 and I can only buy 34.5% of series 2 of The West Wing (damn Warner Brothers rip off merchants) for that amount, so I think the CD/s it is.

So what am I choosing to spend my voucher on? Someone told me I needed to hear a particular Cowboy Junkies album and this sounds like a good idea, since this person has good taste generally in music, apart from an almost unhealthy obsession with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Also, I am currently finding the Yeah Yeah Yeahs pretty bloody good. They are the kind of artist who improve upon each subsequent listen. So Show Your Bones could soon become my next musical acquisition. When I go shopping I'll probably buy something else totally on impulse, but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are my current preferred option.

The other option of course is to wait for some album I really want, like the new Wilco one, to be released but there is only so long one may hang onto happiness. Ha ha. Now, happiness is also an unwatched DVD set of The West Wing, plus a double episode on ABC tonight so I shall now go and indulge myself.

By the way, some nutcase councillor commented on my sister's blog, apparently after stumbling upon it in some midnight search for the words 'public transport' and 'advocacy'. In adding a petty and mostly irrelevant correction to her blog, he seems to have totally missed the point of her article which as far as I can see is to poke at fun and him and the PUTA generally, as well as anyone else who blames the government for the drought and other natural global phenomena. So if you feel angry enough, go and add your own voice to hers and mine in response at whenithinkofsomethingwitty.blogspot.com

I'm guessing the album recommended to you was The Trinity Sessions by Cowboy Junkies? Definitely worth owning!

It's the PTUA, not the PUTA. Oh god, it's beginning to have an effect on me! Bloody conservative looney!

Hey, I got it right. It's the Petty Uneducated Troglodites Association, isn't it?
