To complement my previous entry about music I no longer listen to, I decided to discuss a couple of songs and artists I recently rediscovered. Hopefully this entry will not generate the same kind of negative commentary as the aforementioned one did.
The Fallen, Franz Ferdinand
This came up on my iPod when I had it in shuffle mode this evening. I'm the kind of person who likes to preserve my battery life by only charging my iPod when the battery is totally dead, so I'm running it down in preparation for my weekend trip to Melbourne. I'll charge it tomorrow while I'm at work. Anyway, this was the fourth song that came up. The opening bit is great, when the drums kick in and the guitar riff, and the line 'who gives a damn about the profits at Tesco?'
Lucky Man, The Verve
I added this to my 'walking to school' play list last week for some reason. I haven't listened to the album Urban Hymns for awhile, so I decided it was time for it to be played again. Lots of soaring orchestral strings and a lot more upbeat than The Drugs Don't Work.
The Familiar, Faker
Haven't heard this for ages. It's a one-off download (along with their song Teenage Werewolf) I found a year or so back. I remember hearing it on Triple J and having it stuck in my head for awhile, a sign for me that I needed to own it.
