Loud on your car like bullets on tin

It's been pouring all day. Traralgon is under severe flood warnings for the next day or so, with the creek rising rapidly. It's gray, cold and miserable, the perfect weather to be tucked up in bed with a Harry Potter novel and a cup of tea but unfortunately I had to go to work. Today I thought it would be appropriate to list some wet weather songs. I have to point out that this list was compiled mostly by typing 'rain' into the 'search' box in iTunes, so there are probably other songs I missed. Anyway, here goes.

Summer Rain, Belinda Carlisle
This is a great song. A bit trashy perhaps, but still great. Too bad it's not especially seasonal at the moment. Perfect for any singalong at an eighties pub night. The techno version is crappy, though.

Raining Again, Moby
The best rain song there is, I reckon. It has a great rhythm, a piano riff and a fantastic backing vocalist in the last part of the song. Also has great lyrics, such as 'sadness like water raining down'.

It's In the Rain, Enya
All of Enya's music is pretty inoffensive and easy to listen to. She doesn't break out of her self-created genre much and this song is fairly typical... soaring vocals, multi layered sounds, the usual stuff.

Tom's Diner, Suzanne Vega
Doesn't have 'rain' in the title but it's about sitting in the morning in the diner on the corner while the weather outside is pretty horrible. 'Oh, this rain it will continue through the morning as I'm listening to the bells on the cathedral... I am thinking of your voice'.

And It Rained All Night, Thom Yorke
From The Eraser, another piece of great electronic genre-defying music with his angsty vocals added in for good measure.

Why Does It Always Rain On Me?, Travis
Predictable I know but also appropriate. I don't think I need to describe this one, I think you all know it fairly well.

Rain City, Turin Brakes
A great end to Ether Song, followed by the amazing hidden (and title) track after seven minutes of silence.
