Predictably enough, this is a common theme in music. I'm sure I can find more songs if I try, but this list will have to suffice for the moment.
Hate It Here, Wilco
This one has a bit of a twist on the theme, since it's about someone who seems to simply be temporarily absent, but then the mother of the woman warns the guy to take care. Discussed more extensively elsewhere
No Aphrodisiac, The Whitlams
Written about Tim Freedman's one-time Melbourne girlfriend (and apparently written partly, or mostly depending on your view of conspiracy theories by Pinky Beecroft from MGF).
Missing, Everything But the Girl
This song is one I don't actually own. I was cheated earlier in the year when I bought a CD entitled The Best of Everything But the Girl which ended up being crappy non-electronic versions of their songs. I'm sure I'll buy this at some stage though.
Last Goodbye, Jeff Buckley
In this song the woman isn't coming back, so it's a bit of a depressing one. One of the highlights from Grace with an amazing climax.
Waiting, Art of Fighting
One of the two excellent songs on their EP Empty Nights and one of those songs that manages to get away with being almost ten minutes long. A beautiful soundscape of music and voices leading to a great crescendo at the end.

I wonder if there is a reason behind the theme of this post?
As of tomorrow night there won't be!
