Sara Eats Her Words

Some of you might remember an entry I wrote a little while ago about bands I thought were overrated. I listed a few and explained that while I could see some of the reasons people might like them, I just didn't get it. Some of you might have felt a little miffed at reading this, despite my disclaimer. So you will be pleased, perhaps, to note that I am revising my opinion of one such band, that band being Architecture in Helsinki.

Now the comments I made, back in about June, still stand. I don't really like their last album and I don't see what's so exciting or groundbreaking or even likeable about it. BUT I do like their new album. It was released on Monday and has been receiving a fair bit of air play on Triple J this week, since it's one of their feature albums. Three times now I've heard songs from it and wondered 'who is this?', then been quite surprised to discover who it actually was. So I think on the weekend I'll purchase myself a copy of Places Like This because from what I've heard, it's a great album. Apparently this album is a fair departure from their previous stuff, which might explain why I find it to be appealing. If you're interested you can read about it here.
