As I remarked not so long ago, my list of gigs this year is hovering somewhere close to fourteen. Make that fifteen. Last night I snapped up tickets to see Skipping Girl Vinegar at the Toff in Town later this month. I first saw this band supporting Something For Kate and they were instantly appealing, as opposed to the other rather average support act. They reminded me of the Shins, but they also had something else with a bit of an edge to it. I'm looking forward to seeing them again and to buying their EP which is being launched at the gig.
Also, I booked tickets to the Spicks and Speck-tacular in November. This should also be a great show. Initially I thought it was the actual show itself being taped, but it's a live version of the TV show, it seems. I'm wondering what it will involve, other than some larger version of the bicycle used in Malvern Stars On '45. And I do count this as a gig. Myf Warhurst's brother's band is playing there, apparently. That makes it a gig. If the dance show with Sigur Ros playing is a gig, so is this.
