Hottest 100

For those of us who (now less frequently) listen to Triple J, Monday was not Australia Day but Hottest 100 Day. Sadly this year's affair was quite predictable- winning were Kings of Leon (Sex on Fire) with MGMT's Electric Feel second and Kings of Leon again in third place with Use Somebody. It was great to see the talented Vampire Weekend in the list four times and Flight of the Conchords made it three times as well. The higher end of the votes were dominated by hip hop and electronica, some good, some bad. We also saw bad novelty hip hop wedge its way into the top ten in the form of Pez, with a song about summer music festivals. (Where are the Hilltop Hoods when you need them?)

This is where my votes went, at least the ones that made it through to the count down.

16. You Don't Know Me, Ben Folds feat. Regina Spektor

18. Time to Pretend, MGMT

26. Paris is Burning, Ladyhawke

27. The Lighthouse Song, Josh Pyke

58. Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa, Vampire Weekend
