In two days I am going to see the Scissor Sisters at Vodafone Arena. I'm really looking forward to this gig, even if it's a far cry from the usual sticky carpet at the Corner Hotel. You can't go to too many of those gigs- they make you realise where all this live music stuff starts, playing dodgy pubs, even if the Corner is a fair way removed from that. Anyway, I would have loved to see the Scissor Sisters play at the Corner or another more intimate venue but they're so big these days they put them on at Vodafone, now that there seems to be a mainstream audience for their music.
At first I liked Take Your Mama and didn't give enough of their other stuff much of a listen. But since then I got hooked on Laura and Comfortably Numb, borrowed the album from a friend and realised the rest of it was just as good. After multiple listens, the songs Can't Come Quickly Enough (see above quote) and Better Luck were favourites, as was Return to Oz. So of course the day their new album came out last year I went and bought myself a copy. And since then they've become one of my 'absolutely must see live if at all possible' bands.
I'm expecting some interesting performances... how could you not, knowing about the aesthetic of the band? I'm hoping that we get a reasonable view from where we're sitting and that the support act is decent (I've been trying hard to suss out exactly who the support act/s might be, but this is proving difficult). Stay tuned for the update about the show.

I just found out it's Sneaky Sound System who I've never heard of. So we shall see.
Yeah they are a slightly dodgy pop/techno outfit. Saw them a couple of years ago as support to Jamiroquai, and they put out a single late last year called "I love it". The singer actually used to be in a band called Primary, if you've ever heard of them.
