Well... wow. An amazing show. The floor shook. Although to be truthful, that was just the stands and their dodgy construction. But where to begin? The support act? No, not worth mentioning. Suffice to say the male lead singer reminded me of an annoying FM radio announcer and the female singer looked like Tina Turner.
Anyway, the set consisted of a gold curtain with two halves of a lift in front of them, like the cover of the album. So of course when Intermission in an instrumental form had finished playing, the doors slid open and the band started on She's My Man. They went straight into I Can't Decide, then played Tits on the Radio and Laura, which they dedicated to Laura Bush, 'an f-ing c---'. The set list also featured Skins, Transistor, Kiss You Off, Take Your Mama, Land of a Thousand Words, Paul McCartney and Lights. The highlights were an awesome version of Comfortably Numb, the closer Music is the Victim and the two encores, I Don't Feel Like Dancin' and Filthy/Gorgeous (by this stage of the night, Jake Shears was going for the minimalist look of a pair of silver sparkly shorts and nothing else. Well, he did used to be a stripper).
Besides the music, the dancing and energy of the show was also unbelievable. Jake Shears and Ana Matronic spent most of the time moving, performing acrobatics, skipping from one side of the stage to the other (Jake S in particular), jumping off amplifiers etc. There was a tribute to Anna Nicole Smith, a cover of Candle in the Wind with the lyrics altered accordingly. Babydaddy imitated an Australian accent, Ana Matronic explained that she liked children and she'd eaten one for breakfast this morning and someone explained what the band's name actually refers to.
The only criticism I would make? No Return to Oz, Mary, Better Luck or Can't Come Quickly Enough. Other than that, a great show.

By the way, I'm not explaining what the band's name refers to here. If I did I'd get all sorts of visits from perverted people. You'll just have to use your imagination if you don't already know.
I clearly have no imagination - I have no idea what the name refers to. Will have to ask you to explain next time I see you...
