I've already explained how I came to love the Beatles and now I own most of their albums. I thought I would try to list which of their songs I like most and explain why, or attempt to do so. Their music is still so interesting, varied and broke new ground at the time.
1. Hey Bulldog- Yellow Submarine Soundtrack
On the Yellow Submarine soundtrack but no other albums. It's very addictive, great to sing along to and has a great guitar riff in the introduction sequence.
2. Baby You're A Rich Man- Magical Mystery Tour
Has a strange introduction with some of sort of bagpipe-like instrument playing, a quiet series of verses and a loud, catchy chorus: You keep all your money in a big brown bag inside the zoo, what a thing to do.
3. Yellow Submarine- Revolver
This one is here for nostalgic reasons- Ringo's singing certainly isn't up there with John or Paul's and it's kind of simple but for kids it's great. I remember playing this in grade one during music class using different percussion instruments and loving it. The background noises (kazoo, ship's bell etc) make it fun.
4. We Can Work It Out- 1962-1966
This was a b-side to You've Got To Hide Your Love Away and doesn't appear on any of the albums, apart from the Past Masters compilations. I like the changes between the two different tempos and tunes, plus the main melody.
5. Here Comes the Sun- Abbey Road
One of the George Harrison songs and arguably the best of the stuff he wrote for the band. The guitar playing is beautiful, as is the bridge later in the song. Upbeat and lovely.
6. Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except for Me and My Monkey- White Album
Aside from the name (which is great in itself), an energetic and addictive number that doesn't make a lot of sense, but which I really like.
7. I Am the Walrus- Magical Mystery Tour
The first time I heard this I didn't get it, but now I see this song as a work of genius, albeit fuelled by drug addiction. Who else would sample BBC Shakespeare or feature the line, man you should've seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe?
8. Help!- Help!
I don't know how anyone could cover this song and turn it into a depressing, droningly slow dirge (Joe Cocker, anyone?). The original version is by far the best.
9. While My Guitar Gently Weeps- The White Album
Another George Harrison number, this time with a harder edge to it.
10. Hard Days' Night- 1962-1966
This is on one of the albums I don't own, so I'm accrediting it to the Red Album instead. I used to run around the house to this song when I was four years old. It had to go in the top ten list.

Ah yes, yellow submarine. A great tune, have played a brass band arrangement. Vauge memories of playing a game in Primary School of the same name in kiddies' corner.
I totally forgot about Kiddies' Corner. Why was it called that, I wonder? There was a corner (and a strange wooden thing we used to play 'Star Wars' in) around the edge of the oval. Actually it was the Yellow Hullabaloo, if I remember correctly and we played it on the wooden upside down v-shaped thing.
