I think it's perfectly clear we're in the wrong band

While preparing another blog entry, I was struck by this idea... a list of songs about bands. I thought of these off the top of my head. Any other ideas, leave a comment.

1. Band on Every Corner, The Whitlams (from Eternal Nightcap)
'There's a band on every corner but I'm not in one, I hate three out of every four of them but I haven't got a gun'. The story of the song is quite funny and there's a part of the song that sounds like the Chieftans.

2. The Wrong Band, Tori Amos (from Under the Pink)
I don't really know what this song is about. If you can shed any light on it, let me know.

3. Army, Ben Folds Five
'I took my old man's advice: three sad semesters, it was only fifteen grand spent in bed, I thought about the army. I dropped out and joined a band instead.'

4. The Late Greats, Wilco (from A Ghost Is Born)
'The best band will never get signed... you'll never hear them on the radio. You'll never hear them anywhere you go.'

5. Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, The Beatles (from Sergeant Pepper)
Pretty self explanatory really. I like how this song became one of the key elements in the film Yellow Submarine.

6. The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton, The Mountain Goats (from one of the albums I don't own)
An amusing song they played live earlier this year at the Corner Hotel. 'In script that made prominent use of a pentagram they stencilled their drum-heads and guitars with their names'.

Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
"Those days when we had a band and played those six-strings. Had we known we'd never get far". I forget the exact words.
