Garden State
I'm sick at the moment. I have no energy to do anything other than sit on my couch and watch DVDs. I have a few lined up for the public holiday tomorrow, but tonight I watched Garden State which I hadn't seen for awhile. It's a very likeable and well constructed film- a love story without being too soppy, original, funny and well acted. It also has a great soundtrack. I think Zach Braff was being very conscious about mentioning the Shins in the script and the song New Slang which Natalie Portman's character says 'will change your life'. The soundtrack also features Caring Is Creepy and other artists including Nick Drake, Colin Hay (from Men At Work), Simon and Garfunkle and a group called Frou Frou. Their song Let Go played over the closing credits fits perfectly. There's also a cover of Such Great Heights (originally by the Postal Service), very different to the original version and some other good bits and pieces.

Frou Frou is great. I have their album, you can borrow it if you like. The singer is Imogen Heap, who has some good solo CDs.
