My music collection is pretty varied, even more so since I became an owner of iTunes and a frequent customer of its music store. There aren't too many genres of music I dislike (heavy metal, most rap, some hip hip, some country) and I'll give most things a listen at least once if people recommend them. I suppose though that electronica is a genre I like that people might find surprising. But I do have a few favourite artists. I group everything 'dance music' related underneath the heading of 'electronica'. I know true fans would tell me off for not knowing the differences between house and techno and trance, but I don't know enough to do that.
Anyway, here are some artists I quite like...
1. Underworld
Famous for Born Slippy (see above quote). I own their best of album but listen to the second (most recent) disc more often. I also like Two Months Off, Dinosaur Adventure 3D, Eight Ball and others.
2. Everything But the Girl
I like Missing, Walking Wounded, Five Fathoms and quite a bit of their stuff. Tracey Thorne is great. I once heard the J Files about EBTG and they played some of her first solo album from the eighties. Brilliant... I'd love to track it down. In the meantime her new solo album might be a future purchase (although I've been saying this for awhile now).
3. Jacknife Lee
I used to tape his stuff from Triple J quite often. I only have one of his songs now though, Cookies which is quirky and fun to listen to, but I'm in hot pursuit of more.
4. The Infadels
I think this album will become a future purchase. I first saw Can't Get Enough on Rage at the end of last year and downloaded it, then found Love Like Semtex which is equally addictive. Very much like rock-electronica.
5. Fatboy Slim
I own his best of album. Highlights include the remix of Brimful of Asha (the best version by far), Weapon of Choice, Talking Bout My Baby, Right Here Right Now... Most of the album is great.
6. Stereolab
I really like one of their songs Captain Easychord... the rest of the album is OK but this is a standout.
7. Chemical Brothers
I haven't heard much of their stuff but I do own a couple of singles- Let Forever Be and Galvanise.
