Songs That Are Really Annoying When They're Stuck In Your Head

Yesterday I was in the shower and had my bathroom radio on and once again, Triple J played the Silverchair song If You Keep Losing Sleep. Not a bad song, but it has a really annoying tendency of hanging around in your head for hours and hours afterwards. It popped up before school, during my morning classes and resurfaced later in the evening after I'd tried to get it out of my head with other music on my iPod. Anyway, I thought I'd write about some songs I find irritating when they're stuck in my head.

Shinboners, Greg Champion
From his Footy Songs album. A few of these tend to linger, but with all the talk of Glenn Archer's 300th game and being Shinboner of the Century, this one in particular kept finding its way into my head. 'We're shinboners that's what we are, we learned our tricks at the abattoir'. Etc.

Ruby, The Kaiser Chiefs
I do actually like this song but it is also a little infuriating after the fifteenth play in a week. Luckily it seems to have died off in popularity. I'm not even sure if I'll vote for this in the Hottest 100 now. Earlier in the year I would have for sure, but now... we'll see.

The Message, The Cops
Again this is a great song but it does tend to hang around like a bad smell hours after being played, along with songs like Out of the Fridge/Into the Fire, I Yell Trouble and of course Call Me Anytime.
