This entry will be the last for 2007. I am taking a break until the new year when I can write a review of the Jose Gonzalez gig at the Forum. Have a good Christmas.
1. Wilco, The Palais
One amazing gig with a fantastic set list, great performances, awesome venue... the only regret I have is not being able to attend the following night's show which was much more intimate. Next time I see them is in March. Bring it on!
2. Regina Spektor, Regent Theatre
A quiet person but what a performer... like Tori Amos but better. She's been one of my favourite acts this year after I bought both Begin to Hope and Soviet Kitsch. I wish JB would start stocking her older albums so I can buy them (they are on iTunes though).
3. The Mountain Goats, the Corner Hotel
A band that really puts together a great show. Simple instrumentation but clearly enunciated lyrics, crowd-pleasing songs and an infectious energy. Another act I'd love to see again.
4. Gotye, The Athenaeum Theatre
The performance of Learnalilgivinanlovin was one of the year's gig highlights. Plus the hilarious Thanks For Your Time, which was complemented by the animations in the background. I loved the keyboard samples, available at the touch of a button. (Oh-ooh!)
5. Crowded House, Rod Laver Arena
An act I never thought I'd get to see live. Not as good as Split Enz last year, but still great. They knew just how many old classics would pleased the crowd and didn't over indulge themselves by airing too much new material.
