Flight of the Conchords, Part Two

Here is part two of the Flight of the Conchords album commentary from last week.

8. Leggy Blonde
A heartfelt lament from Murray, the manager of the Conchords, who misses the beautiful tech support woman from his office. He's not as good with lyrics as Bret and Jemaine, though: 'I had a budgie but it died... I like pie!'

9. Robots
A witty tale of the future where the humans have been killed by 'poisonous gases' (with traces of lead) and 'robotic beings rule the world'. It's apparently still good, although there are no more elephants and only two dances, the Robo Boogie and the Robot. Jemaine's robot voice is particularly well executed.

10. Boom
It's not Shaggy, it's Bret, singing about Coco, his sign-holding colleague who's so hot she's making him sexist. As you might guess, 'boom' becomes a euphemism for everything from Spring to drink to, well...

11. A Kiss Is Not a Contract
But it's very nice. Although it doesn't mean you're going to get everything you want. A witty track with some nice guitar playing and harmonies.

12. The Most Beautiful Girl (In the Room)
Or on the street, depending on the street, she could definitely be in the top three. Another of the witty tracks from the TV show that ties into a plot line about a party and someone Jemaine's interested in. She could even be the most beautiful girl he's ever seen with a kebab, which is really saying something.

13. Business Time
Another euphemistic title, although in Jemaine's imagined future it's a story of how dangerous routines can become. Jemaine does the sexy Isaac Hayes voice very well too.

14. Bowie
An attempt to bust some Bowie myths, and a homage to many of his songs. Does he have one sequinned space suit, or several ch-changes? Pretty freaky, but also very funny.

15. Au Revoir
A simple little closing track to finish off the album with both boys singing and more guitar.
