It's Blitz!

Since last week I've had the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Zero permanently stuck in my head. It might also have something to do with its being played on Rage, but it is a really catchy song and is likely to appear in my top ten at the end of the year. They're a band who never seems to go stale. I was impressed by the rock in both the EP song Down Boy and Sealings from the Spiderman 3 soundtrack from 2007 but the new album is quite different from both of these recent recordings. Like Ladyhawke they've joined the eighties electronic revival but in their own guitar-edged way. The opening track Zero is addictive. There's more great stuff to follow in the second track Heads Will Roll, Soft Shock and the fantastic slow Skeletons with an edge of Celtic influence. The rest is yet to settle into separate songs in my head, but that will come soon I'm sure.
