After their performance with the Seven Worlds Collide Project earlier this year, I thought that was all we'd see of Wilco for awhile. Surely recording some great tracks with the talented troupe assembled by Neil Finn would satisfy their song writing urges. When they announced the release of Ashes of American Flags, a concert DVD, I assumed I was correct. This DVD is due out in just over a week and features recordings from concerts they performed in a range of locations across the US.
But no, Jeff, John and co are never satisfied. They are also releasing a new album in less than two months! The as-yet untitled LP contains an opening track with the irresistible title Wilco the Song which leaves me wondering what such a song might be like. If they are trying to capture the style and mood of their music in just one song, this could be quite difficult.
And the Seven Worlds Collide release date hasn't even been announced. Lots to look forward to later this year.
