It's a golden age coming 'round

The year has started off slowly with a few notable new releases, but the next month or so is going to be a very exciting time. Today the new Regina Spektor album was released, which is on its way to me as I speak. I've heard four songs, all of which were great. The production on this album seems a little smoother but Regina's voice is still the most important instrument and her sense of humour is present, as ever, in the lyrics.

Next Tuesday Wilco fans who have pre-ordered the album can download it for free from their web site. I've heard the whole thing through once and I've heard the single a few times. Looking forward to getting to know the rest of the songs. Apparently they were inspired by their time in NZ recording with Neil Finn. Speaking of which...

On August the 7 Worlds Collide album is finally released. We get to hear what Neil Finn, Ed O'Brien, Phil Selway, Johnny Marr, Jeff Tweedy, John Stirratt, Glenn Kotche, Pat Sansone, Bic Runga, KT Tunstall and Don McGlashan have been up to during their time in NZ. The Phil Selway track Ties That Bind Us should be great, as should the rest of the double (!) album. Looking forward to the Johnny Marr/Wilco collaborative effort.

And then in September, Ben Folds arrives! Exciting times ahead.
