When I was a kid I grew up in a house on the hill, not the top, not the bottom but the middle

Although I confessed earlier this week to being a one-eyed Triple J listener (perhaps one-eared?), I do have to report occasional annoyances with said radio station. The last time was when they featured the new Shins album a week before it was released, meaning every time I turned on the radio I was incredibly frustrated by loving the songs but being unable to own them personally until the official release date. This time they've done it again with... you guessed it, the new Josh Pyke album Memories and Dust.

The songs I've heard so far are great (the single Lines On Palms plus a few others) but it's incredibly annoying that they smugly go around playing them all before anyone can actually purchase the album. I really wish they wouldn't do this. I remember when Ben Folds Five's The Unauthorised Biography of Reinhold Messner came out and they started playing it two days early... at least the album was released on a Monday, so I only had two days of hearing Don't Change Your Plans, Your Redneck Past and Hospital Song before I could go out and buy the CD.

I have a feeling they will do the same thing with the new Kings of Leon CD and if I were a huge Kings of Leon fan I would find this greatly annoying. Luckily I'd rather hear the songs first, so I can work out whether or not I want to buy the album (I'm pretty sure I do, but we'll see). I guess you can't win either way and neither can Triple J. On the whole though... not happy!
