I was thinking about the Lemonheads song Being Around the other day, quite a funny little number on the Best Of album I own. My brain being stuck for ideas, I decided to list some similar songs. When I started the list though I realised there were more than I first thought. This will be a part 1 entry.
Being Around, The Lemonheads
The highlight of this (kind of silly but also cute song) would have to be the line that goes: 'if I was a booger would you blow your nose? Where would you keep it? Would you eat it?'
She's On Time, Barenaked Ladies
This song is not about punctuality, but rather... well, it's a euphemism for something else. You can work it out, I'm sure.
Julianne, Ben Folds Five
As well as being silly, this song also isn't particularly flattering about its subject matter. 'I met this girl, she looked like Axl Rose. Got drunk and took her home and we slept in our clothes.' The line about the bag of trash is also funny.
Nowhere Without You, Bob Evans
This song isn't especially funny, but the film clip is, with the singing foam puppet furniture. The sofa eats him at the end.
Italian Plastic, Crowded House
Paul Hester wrote this number. In their last performance Neil Finn forgot the words and mixed up the order of the verses. 'I bring you plates from Rome, you say they look fantastic. I say we're having fun, nothing like that Italian plastic'. A heart warming little song.
Bohemian Like You, Dandy Warhols
Despite its appearance in car commercials, it's still an infectious and enjoyable song, even on the fifteen thousandth hearing.
