A Fountain of Music
At the moment I'm alternating between three new CDs, two newly released. First of all there's the new Radiohead album Inrainbows which is amazingly constructed, complex and compulsive. There are floaty tracks of synthesised smoothness contrasted with crazy rock and all complemented by Thom Yorke's lyrics (if only I could hear what they are). Like other Radiohead albums it requires some effort to dissect and consider, but the effort is usually rewarded. If that wasn't enough, there's also Jose Gonzalez's first album Veneer, a little edgier than In Our Nature but still enjoyable. And finally there's Cruel Guards by the Panics. I'm seeing them on Friday night at the Northcote Social Club which gives me a week to acquaint myself with the new album, but from what I've heard played so far on Triple J last week I'm really enjoying it.
