Spicks and Speck-tacular (November 30th, Comedy Theatre)

This doesn't really qualify as a gig, although there was a band and they did play a set of music before the show. The Spektors (the house band) consisted of Myf Warhurst's brother Kit and two other people and they also participated in the show itself in various ways.

The show was kicked off by some of Adam Hills' stand up when he proceeded to pick on various members of the audience in an endearing way. This took place for awhile before the contestants were selected. Rather than two teams, the contestants were each in it for themselves. Two dropped out after each of the rounds. Like the TV show there were old favourites like Know Your Product, Look What They've Done to My Song Ma, Mondegreens and then of course Substitute, Malvern Stars on 45 (complete with actual bicycle powered record player) and The Final Countdown. Alan and Myf participated by singing the songs for Substitute, assisting with contestant selection and performing a piano/contemporary dance duet while Adam took a short break.

The highlight of the night, however was the finale, the live re-enactment of the Thriller music video, with all the contestants being the zombie/vampire/undead people. It was a most enjoyable show.
