Top Ten Albums (continued)

8. Little Eve, Kate Miller-Heidke
I wish I'd had the chance this year to see her play more than just a support act for Evermore. She's one of those people whose music works best in front of a responsive audience. This album is still pretty good and it shows off her operatic talents, in songs like Little Adam, Mama and the amazing single Words. Also, there's softer and poppier stuff like Delay, Thanks For Today, Ducks Don't Need Satellites and I Got the Way. Then there's also Shoebox, a crazy mash of fast paced guitar and folk-rock.

7. Memories and Dust, Josh Pyke
It's really too bad that the best two songs from this album have already been released- the incredibly well constructed title track and Middle of the Hill, a Triple J Hottest 100 favourite from 2005. There are still some great tracks on this album though- Lines on Palms, Forever Song and Fed and Watered are all memorable. The Feeding the Wolves EP held such promise which didn't quite eventuate as I'd hoped. Still, it's a worthy place-getter on this list.
